National Brewery Centre Backs Local Scanner Appeal Charity
Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire, UK – 13th January 2010 – The National Brewery Centre, Burton-upon-Trent, has selected The Queen’s Hospital CT Scanner Appeal as a nominated charity for 2010.

The new visitor centre and museum, which is set to open in time for Easter 2010, will celebrate the UK’s brewing heritage and Burton’s massive contribution to the industry – both nationally and internationally.

John Lowther, chief executive of Planning Solutions Ltd, the company behind the new centre, said: “We recognise how vitally important the scanner appeal is and how it will help the hospital continue to deliver top-class healthcare to the local community.”

“Our support is much more than merely writing a cheque for the appeal – we will work with them to help raise funds and offer the use of our facilities.

“We are experts in organising events; they are experts in fundraising so it should be a successful partnership that makes a big contribution towards their target of £500,000.”

Jim Morrison, chairman, Queen’s Hospital, said: ”We are absolutely delighted to be chosen by The National Brewery Centre in its inaugural year.”

“We have a big challenge ahead to raise the money that’s required for our new CT scanner, but with the support of organisations like The National Brewery Centre along with all of the volunteers that work tirelessly to raise the money needed, I know we’ll get there.”

The new centre will be at the site of the Coors Visitor Centre and Museum of Brewing in Horninglow Street, which closed last year and was formerly the Bass Museum.

In addition to a world-class visitor centre and museum, the new site will have bars and restaurants that offer the best in local produce – both in terms of food and drink. It will retain key elements of the existing facilities, updating and reorganising the site to create a unique visitor attraction that will appeal to people of all ages.
